Former NBA player Amar’e Stoudemire is currently being sued by a Miami woman who claims he is the father of her child. 36 year old Quynn Lovett is a Miami woman who recently gave birth to her daughter, Zoe Renee. Lovett is claiming that she and the 6 time NBA All-Star had an affair while he was on the Miami Heat, which resulted in the birth of little Zoe last year. She’s asking a Florida judge to declare Stoudemire as the father. Lovett is also seeking permanent child support as well as full custody.
Stoudemire has admitted to being of aware of Lovett and baby Zoe, citing the possibility that he indeed may be the father. That in turn was a confession to having an affair and stepping out on his wife and mother of four children, Alexis Welch. The two began dating since 2002 and got married on a Greenwich Village rooftop in 2012.
In the claim, Lovett accuses Stoudemire of not being involved with the child. She states that he has not visited nor pay any of her maternity bills, which she estimated to be around $11,000.
Stoudemire soon clapped back with court papers of his own, stating that he’s been giving Lovett a monthly stipend for the child and also paid her legal bills. The 6’10 basketball player says her lawsuit is ‘frivolous’. He claims that he was ‘informed of his paternity several months after the child was born’. And it turns out that he has been paying Lovett ‘various amounts,’ including $22,500 in legal bills. According to Stoudemire, regular child support was established on Nov. 1, 2016,
Court records showed Lovett originally sued Stoudemire in Middlesex County back in November 2016. However the case was dismissed in March, resulting with her filing in Florida a month later.
