The future Hall of Famer, Kobe Bryant will have his jersey retired this upcoming season. The Los Angeles Lakers are planning the retirement of Bryant’s jersey for December 18th. The Lakers will face the defending champions, the Golden State Warriors on the day of action.
According to TMZ,
The Lakers aren’t officially acknowledging it but the team sent a letter to Lakers season ticket holders advising them to, “hold on to your tickets for the game on Dec. 18th” for a “special event.”
As far as the number the Lakers will retire?
Both of Kobe’s numbers will be retired, according to ESPN.
Wonder who made the decision of which number is retired? The man himself, duh! The President of operations, Ervin “Magic” Johnson told Clutch Points, “It’s up to Kobe to decide.” How Kobe of him.
Kobe Bean Bryant will join a group of legendary players who currently hang from the rafters of the Staple Center including former teammate, Shaquille O’Neal, Laker great Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain, and many, many more. Bryant retired at the end of the 2015-16 season with a retirement tour all around the league with all kinds of tribute videos and standing ovations.
