Former Doctor Releases Fire At Bronx Hospital Confirmed Dead After Harming 5 Victims, Leaving 1 Woman Dead

A gunman who shot fire inside Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center in the Mount Hope neighborhood of the Bronx Friday afternoon has been confirmed dead. 

CNN reports there were five victims plus one woman found dead near the gunman on the 16th floor of the hospital, according to law enforcement officials. 

The incident started around 2:45 pm at the medical center on Grand Concourse in the Morris Heights section of The Bronx.

However, the suspect was reported dead shortly before 4 pm. Around that time, police were escorting a group of armed emergency service workers into the building. 

The suspect identified as, Dr. Henry Bellow, who was believed to be a former employee of the hospital, who wore a white lab coat and carried ID, ended up shooting himself at the scene.

The New York Times also reported that during the incident, one of the victims, a doctor, was being treated by people inside. People used an emergency fire hose as a tourniquet, the fire department official said.

Bill de Blasio, mayor of New York, has been briefed on what took place, according to tweets from the mayor’s office.
