Frank Ocean Responds To His Father’s $15.5 Million Lawsuit

#FrankOcean is having a bad case of daddy issues. The singer’s father is suing him over a Tumblr post.

According to news reports, Frank Ocean has responded to a $14.5 million libel lawsuit from his estranged father. The lawsuit was first reported in February when Calvin Cooksey took offense to Ocean’s 2016 Tumblr post when the singer recalled a childhood memory of hearing his father call a transgender waitress a slur.

Cooksey has denied Ocean’s claims, but now TMZ reports that Ocean is “doubling down” in response to his father’s suit.

According to the Fader Thursday.com, Ocean admitted to writing the published essay on the popular blog site, saying that the post “speaks for itself.”

The Tumblr post in question was originally shared in response to the Orlando nightclub shooting last summer. Ocean said:

“I was 6 years old when I heard my dad call our transgender waitress a f****t as he dragged me out of a neighborhood diner saying we wouldn’t be served because she was dirty. That was the last afternoon I saw my father and the first time I heard that word, I think, although it wouldn’t shock me if it wasn’t”

Ocean is requesting a dismissal of father’s libel case. He also wants Cooksey to pay for court costs. Can you blame Ocean?
