Not all snitches get stitches, or traded to another team.
Rookie D’Angelo Russell is learning the ins and outs of the pros the hard way, especially in the spotlight after his less than smart actions hit the internet. His Laker teammates have reportedly isolated him and a lot of fans are letting him have it on social media. Russell’s intentions were a joke but he has since apologized for his actions.
“I am sorry about recording the video. I can’t repeat myself enough on that: I am sorry I recorded that video. I feel horrible. I wish this never happened.”
Many think Russell should be traded, but the Lakers are very confident in their No. 2 overall draft pick and understand that this will be a learning experience for the 20-year-old.
According to B/R,
The Lakers are not happy that Russell has cast the franchise in this light now—and there are those in the organization fearful that he has made himself another hurdle to be overcome in the Lakers’ effort to add much-needed proven free-agent talent. But the club is not about to give up on him over this: a foolish, ill-conceived undertaking that was at least not malicious in intent.
The Lakers believe in Russell’s talent and hope he learns a lesson the hard way here about needing to be more professional.
Just wish Russell would have let his all blow over as time will heal all wounds and just have a private conversation with Nick Young. Kobe’s last game is less than two weeks away which this situation would have seemed like it was months ago. Russell has more of a upside than most of the players on their roster. Young, who has about two more seasons under his contract, could jump ship and sign elsewhere next season. I would just hate to be in his shoes right now, and hopes he will avoids all dinners with his Laker teammates because I’m sure his credit card will be used for the tab.
