For years, only the Kardashian’s side of things have come to light when it came to Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom’s marriage.
It’s about time that someone else decided to speak up.
Destiny Odom, Lamar’s 17-year-old daughter, shared her sentiments on how things took a turn for the worst once her father married the reality star in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE.
“When your dad’s an NBA player that’s already enough, but when he’s marrying a reality TV star, things are so public and you don’t have a private life anymore,” says Destiny who remembers watching Keeping Up With The Kardashians around 12-years-old.
Destiny recalls how crazy it was that her dad was marrying someone who she often watched on her TV screen referring to it as a ‘whirlwind.’
She also mentioned the relationship in which she described as ‘toxic,’ in addition to his drug addiction being in the public eye, created issues for her in school.
“There were regular snide comments at school. And when his addiction became public, then it became a social media thing. Even people that I thought were my friends were saying stuff on social media. It was humiliating.”
Destiny also shared in the PEOPLE/Entertainment Weekly (PEN) feature that will hit the stands this week—that most people in their circle were puzzled when Khloe came to the rescue to help after his overdose.
However, as a daughter, the 17-year-old just wants the best for her apologetic father who she has seen in the last couple months.
“I’ve had conversations with him just letting him know that I want him to get help,” she says. “But at the end of the day he’s a grown man and you have to want it for yourself.”
