You may have heard of the very outspoken father of the UCLA point guard, Lonzo Ball lately as he has called out just about everybody in reference to his sons. LaVar Ball, the father of high sought out UCLA star, Lonzo Ball, has added yet another superstar players name to his list of who his son is better than. In an recent interview with ESPN’s Chris Broussard, Ball had a few things to say about 3-time NBA Champion and 4-time NBA MVP, LeBron James.
“You got LeBron, it’s going to be hard for his kids because they are going to look at them like, ‘You got to be just like your dad.’ And after a while, that pressure starts sitting on you like, ‘Why do I got to be just like him? What can’t I just be me?’ And then they are going to be like, ‘Aw, you’re soft, you’re not that good.’ Because the expectation is very, very high.”
The leader of the defending NBA champions, LeBron James rarely speaks out on matters of this nature but today, the Akron, Ohio King had time and defended his family by telling ESPN Tuesday after the Cavs practice,
“Keep my kids’ name out of your mouth, keep my family out of your mouth. He can talk all about his brand, talk about his sons, talk about basketball, talk about me, But keep my family out of this.” And James’ last message to LaVar Ball, wasn’t so nice. James says, “This is dad to dad. It’s a problem now.”
We get it, your sons are the best in your eyes. Great, but Ball is taking things a little be too far. As they say in the south, you are counting your eggs before they hatch. The problem is not the boys, not even the father, it’s the father’s mouth which could rub some teams away from selecting the “Better than Curry,” UCLA point guard. How about you shut your mouth as most parents of up and coming player do and let your son’s actions on the court do the talking.
