It’s no question, Michael Jordan is the top overall player that has grace a basketball court to date. The 6-time NBA champion, 5-time NBA MVP, and currently, owner of the Charlotte Hornets gave his thoughts at his Flight School camp in Santa Barbara, California on the hot topic in barber shops across American, Kobe or LeBron?
When asked by one of his campers, Jordan says,
“Would I rank LeBron over Kobe in terms of best of all time? No. There’s something about five that beats three. Now he may mad at me now, but Kobe won five championships. LeBron won three.”
If you’re a stats person, you may not agree with MJ. In terms of averages, LeBron’s 27.1 points, 7.3 rebounds and 7.0 assists best Kobe’s 25.0 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.7 assists for their career. Although, when you also take into consideration accomplishments from both players individually, ranks of those accomplishments, ability to be a game changer, and NBA Finals record, Kobe just embraces that killer mentality as a MJ. The self proclaimed, “King James,” is still the King of the NBA at the moment, but at the end of James’ career, he will still be a top 5 player with or without his current 3 rings.
