For the past couple of days rumor of Jay-Z turning down the NFL’s invitation to perform this year’s Super Bowl Halftime show have been circulating. The narrative was that Jay-Z turned down the offer as a sign of support for Colin Kaepernick, who is currently being blackballed by the league.
Before this rumor could gain any more momentum, the NFL released a statement.
“No decisions have been made on the performer(s) and we are not going to speculate on particular artists,” said NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy. “Along with Pepsi, we know that we will put on a spectacular show. When it is time to announce her name we will do it. Or his name. Or their names.”
