We wish we could make this stuff up but Rachel Dolezal is still making headlines.
This time, Dolezal’s promotion of her new memoir, ‘In Full Color: Finding My Place and In a Black And White World’ is stirring buzz on the internet. People are especially taking note of a recent interview where she describes her inclination to identity herself as “trans-black,” even akinning her story to that of Caitlyn Jenner.
The 39-year-old white former NAACP leader agreed In an interview with CNN anchor Michael Smerconish, the former NAACP leader compared herself with transgender Jenner.
“Every category of our identity comes with its own unique circumstance,” said Dolezal.
“There is some similarity in terms of harmonizing the outer appearance with the inner feeling, in terms of stigmatized identities, some people will forever see me as my birth category and nothing further. And the same with Caitlyn.”
In an earlier interview with NBCBLK, Dolezal labeled herself as as “trans-black.”
“…We don’t have the vocabulary to express racial fluidity,” Dolezal said to NBCBLK. “But I do like the term trans-Black that Melissa Harris Perry suggested because it does kinda cover the ‘I wasn’t born this way but this is who I really am’ component.
White or black, Dolezal is undeniably an interesting character.
