A teenager from Florida was arrested last week after threatening to shoot up his high school. The 16-year-old, who has remained unnamed due to his age, posted threatening remarks to Facebook stating that he would shoot up his school because he was displeased with rapper Lil Uzi Vert not releasing his “Luv Is Rage 2” project. Not a smart move when there are online task forces monitoring online forums for threatening or hateful speech.
A quick screenshot of the teen’s post quickly got the attention of authorities. According to ABC Action News, authorities spoke with the 16 year old, his mother, as well as his older brother who owns their family’s home. There were reports of firearms being found within the home enclosed within a lockbox. The keys to the box could not be found, prompting the family to break into the box to prove to police that the guns were still inside.
Regardless, the teenager was later arrested and charged with “false reports of hoax/threats to do violence with a firearm to a school.” Now, let this be a lesson to any youth attempting to be an internet troll like this young man. In this day and age, threats and remarks such as these aren’t taken lightly.
