Trump Treasury Secretary Doesn’t Endorse Placing Harriet Tubman on $20 Bill

Donald Trump’s Treasury Secretary, Steven Mnuchin, says that he is not focused on changing the $20 bill right now. The Obama asministration announced that abolitionist, Harriet Tubman, will be the new face of the $20 bill, replacing slave-owner, Andrew Jackson. Mnuchin says that his main concern with currency, is fighting counterfeiters.

He tells CNBC:

Ultimately we will be looking at this issue. It’s not something I’m focused on at the moment.

The No. 1 issue why we change the currency is to stop counterfeiting. So the issues of what we change will be primarily related to what we need to do for security purposes. I’ve received classified briefings on that. And that’s what I’m focused on for the most part.

People have been on the bills for a long period of time. And this is something we will consider. Right now, we’ve got a lot more important issues to focus on.

Just when my people get SOMETHING. Smh. Knowing Trump and his administration, there might be a confederate flag placed on the currency in the near future.
