The NBA season is finally upon us as the season opens Tuesday evening, starting with the Eastern Conference Championship rematch between teams that have some serious business to work out between one another. The new look Celtics, adding some NBA All-Star MVP who helped Cleveland win their first championship, who goes by the name of Kyrie Irving. Although, to one particular Cavs player, the new look Celtics poses no impression.
According to WKYC,
J.R. Smith said he doesn’t view the Celtics too differently from last year. “I don’t think they really pose a big threat to us”
Smith added more on the Cavs honoring Irving during the pre-game ceremony,
“He was a great player when he was here. He helped us win a championship, so I think it’ll be great”
Cavs head coach, Tyronn Lue, on how he things the fans will react to the team honoring Irving,
“We’ve got the best fans in the world and they’re going to do whatever the see best.
The opening game, which tips off Tuesday evening at 8pm on TNT, has a lot of tension building up and the fans are getting the LeBron and Kryie match-up they have been waiting on since the division starting this off season. Even Irving spoke about his return to Quicken Loans Arena stating, “There is no blocking out the noise, it’s going to be there whether I like it or not.”
