A Florida woman is now being charged with felony grand theft and misdemeanor shoplifting after ringing up $1,800 worth of electronics for $3.70 at a Walmart self checkout.
Cheyanne Amber West was apprehended by Walmart loss prevention after being spotted on surveillance swapping out the bar code of the items she intended to steal with clearance items. According to reports, the 25 year old and her mother were observed picking out the items and wheeling them out towards the exit.
“I am just trying to get gifts for my son that I cannot afford. The computer is for my husband. Since he just got me a Coach purse, I figured he deserved something nice as well,” West told a Florida deputyWest’s mother wasn’t charged but confessed that she was in on the plan but denies walking out the store with anything. She maintains that her daughter was only trying to get gifts for her son.
